Skill: Death. It's not an instant kill. But basically sucks the life out of the cells, which ultimately leads to death. It's far quicker on plants and small animals than to people. On people, migraines are experienced, and once touched with Ryder's bare hands, the skin blackens slowly, leaving the skin dead and useless. This will affect parts of the body close to the dead skin. It's not easily healed and many times irreversable, but not lethal if in small patches. That's one of the main reasons he wears gloves; physical contact, skin on skin, will strengthen the effect.

Likes: He loves having constant noise around him. He may not look it, but he is blind, so having noise around him keeps him calm and aware of his surroundings. Silence makes him feel vulnerable. He also likes to feel different textures, the softer the better. He does wear gloves but they are thin enough so he is able to feel them distinctly. He likes to be left alone most of the time, mostly because people try to pity him and make him seem weak for his blindness. But he is capable of doing everything himself.


Dislikes: The obvious one: color. That's why he wears gloves; he has no idea what he is touching, so to be safe he constantly wears black gloves, even in his sleep. He hates to be helped without asking first. In other words, he doesn't want people to look down on him and assume that he's weak because he physically can't see what he's doing. Silence is another thing he dislikes. No sound prevents him from knowing what's around him because he uses sound almost how bats do: echolocation. He is nowhere perfect with it but it gives him a general mental image, so to speak, of where everything is at. The other main thing he dislikes is more of an embarrassing topic: he HATES it when others pull on his tail. For two reasons. One: his tail is long enough so if someone tugs on the end, he can't reach the person to make them stop. And two: he squeaks quite adorably. A squeaking demon is not very becoming.


Personality: Ryder is very reserved and not one to talk unless he is spoken to. Not necessarily because he is anti-social, but rather he learned what people do when they find out he is blind and would rather not start that up himself. He is very respectful of those with more authority than him and will often revere them almost like a god. Excuse the pun, but he will follow his leaders blindly and will do everything they ask of him. Becoming friends with him is difficult but not impossible. He stays reserved more to test those who really would stand by him despite of anything. More or less, he chooses his friends very carefully. Betrayal would enrage him and jeopardizes his trust in other people as well. Then, becoming close to him would be near impossible. Even if a higher up betrays him or wrongs him, he will still revere them and follow unconditionally.


History: Ryder is the only monochromatic demon in his immediate family. His mother's sister, Asya, is the only other MC in the blood line. Thanks to Ryder's mother, having grown up with a MC, she knew how to take care of the colorless child and protect him from the risks of living in a colored world. She went to the extremes of ridding all color from the interior of the home and wearing black and gloves when handling him. His father was very annoyed of changing his lifestyle to ease Ryder's, so he often stayed away from him, staying in his study most of the time. Ryder's older sister, Dianne, ignored her brother, in fact, resented him because their mother spent so much time and attention for his sake. She also believes that her father's lack of presence at home is due to him as well. She always talked down to him when she had to speak to him, but generally ignored him.
Ryder was never allowed outside of the home, not even at night when his parents went out to collect souls for him. Dianne often had to stay home to watch over him, or not in her case.
One night when his parents were out, Ryder had a dangerous idea. He knew the idea that color for him prohibited. But because if his mother's overprotective actions, he never learned the effects of color. He wanted so desperately to fit in with the rest of the family, to be able to be accepted by his sister and not feel guilty for his father not being around. He went to the bathroom and found his sister's contacts...her red colored contacts. He tried them on and admired his reflection in the mirror, glad to see some color and a chance to be normal. Quickly though his eyes started itching and eventually burning. The pain was too much to bear so he flushed his eyes with water just in time to save him from dying....but not in time to save his eye sight. He eyes were damaged enough by the color to leave him blind. He lost his sight at the age of 13.
Asya, who never learned of his existence until Ryder was 18, came to his home and tried to take custody of him, stating he didn't belong there and couldn't stay locked up there forever. Ryder, living blindly for 4 years, was estatic to learn that he wasn't the only MC and wanted to leave. Ever since the accident, he knew he was never able to belong to his family, truly belong. He stayed in his room most of the time and contemplated running away. What stopped him was that he had no idea when it was day or not and knew he would die if he went out there. His parents refused. More like his mother refused. Both Dianne and his father didn't care. Asya, appearing calm but internally infuriated, left but came back later when Ryder's parents were on their nightly hunt and asked Ryder if he wanted to come with her. Ryder, eager to leave, accepted and went with her. Asya then took him to the academy and gave him a walking stick to help him move around better. It also doubles as a wand because she sensed he had potential for dark magic because she wielded it as well. Ryder is there now to perfect his budding powers.



Additional Info: Everyone in his family has the trademark ram horns, black at the base and black at the tips. The horns are larger on the male members. The mark under his eye his hereditary as well, but it varies from person to person. The symbol on his shirt is the family crest.
